Episode 01 - Starting Over
Wow this is amazing... right from the opening scene you get this magical feel where this little girl is amazed and inspired by a great witch who is putting on a performance advertising for new students at the witch academy. Then you see her a bit more grown up, heading to that academy's opening ceremony and is super excited... but she can't find the bus that goes there. The bus stop is actually a ley line stop, where witches can get a ride on their brooms to the school with the help of a magical ley line. The main girl meets a few other girls that are on their way to school, but they shun her because she doesn't even know how to fly a broom. One of them is this quiet girl who's always reading something and doing spells to get the annoying girl out of her way... Then she meets some kind nerdy girl who is running late, and she offers to give the main girl a ride... but then the ride goes out of control because the main girl is carrying a packet of salty treats with her, and they crash into the quiet girl and they all fall into the forbidden forest.
The quiet girl wanted to come to this forbidden forest all along, but the other 2 want to get to the ceremony... The quiet girl chants a spell to make a giant chicken appear, and uses these 2 as bait so that she can steal a feather from this chicken... Then the chicken starts attacking and breathing fire at the 2 of them... The principal (I think the same witch from the opening) notices some students fell in the forest, and goes to help them... The main girl finds a magic rod, and she recognizes it as the same rod she saw from the opening when she was younger... The principal shows up as the 3 of them are falling to their doom, and she sees that the main girl has that rod, and tells her to chant a spell that warps them directly to the ceremony.. the 3 of them end up as roommates.
Episode 02 - Papiliodia
Shiny Chariot... that's what that witch at the opening was called.
Professor Ursula is the one who saved Atsuko Kagari and the other main girls in the 1st ep... She's yelled at by the other elder professor witches to be more formal and stuff.
The smart girl comes and talks to Akko-chan during lunch, tells her that nobody at this school thinks highly of Chariot... Atsuko has a weird plant ahoge on her head or something from an accident during lab class.
Chariot just uses flashy magic that is just for show... it's been nearly 10 years since she stopped doing shows and disappeared. Atsuko then makes a fool of herself trying to prove her belief in Chariot, failing to do a spell with the shiny rod.
The other students agree with Diana that becoming a witch takes a lot more than just following a performer... and they boast about how privileged and elite she is.
Atsuko really feels bad about Chariot being disrespected so much...
A believing heart is your magicThe one card she was never able to get...
Atsuko shows her card collection to the quiet girl and the nerdy girl...
Papiliodia - A butterfly that spans five continents and emerges once every 120 years... it's said to bring hope to the people who see it.
Meanwhile, the professors are gathered around some sacred tree, wondering about why it has been getting weaker... Diana comes in too... this is "Jennifer's memorial tree"
Professor Ursula is researching this tree's illness, and thinks she has a lead, and says that "the miracle is coming".
I bet that's why she is interested in this girl that landed in the forbidden forest and found the shiny rod...
Atsuko jumps in and tries to stop Diana from destroying the pests that are draining the memorial tree, cuz she thinks they might not be pests...
These are Papiliodia crysalises... the butterfly that only appears once every 120 years, and brings hope to those who see it.The shiny rod starts glowing... the nerdy girl (Lotte Janson) suggests Akko try saying the spell on the Papiliodia card...
omg this is amazing...
Diana is about to tell the professors that Atsuko is the one that healed the memorial tree... but she doesn't because they wouldn't believe her... she's now in the same situation as the other 3 main girls because she's seen the shiny rod's miracle magic with her own eyes.

Episode 03 - Don't Stop Me Now
Ursula introduces herself to Atsuko, as the astronomy teacher.
New lore... the philosopher's stone that's inside the Luna Nova statue that she was trying to move last episode... That's what allows witches around here to use magic to the best of their abilities...
Atsuko fails to even learn how to fly during her first flying class and gets laughed at... Then Ursula gives her an elementary level book on flying. She then gets even more pumped and wants to win the upcoming broom relay race... She even signs up her and Sucy (the quiet weird mushroom-obsessed girl) for the race. Sucy suddenly wants to win as well when she sees that the winner gets a prize from one of the oldest witch professors.
Sucy cheats and sets up a bunch of traps for the other racers, and tells Lotte to just race normally and assures her they'll win.
Meanwhile, another student, one who overheard Atsuko talking to the shopkeeper about that dangerous sealed broom that goes faster than a jet, and it keeps going on forever even after its owner falls off of it... She goes and unseals that broom so she can use it in the race.. it goes berserk and flies free... Then while Atsuko is slowly heading towards the end of the race on a broom-hopping potion, the cursed broom flies by her and she grabs onto it and flies it instead.
She then flies out of control and starts going across the ocean when she falls off.. Diana manages to save her.
lmao holy shit... Atsuko refuses to give up, and she shoots herself out of a cannon (one of the things Sucy did to try and train her to fly), and lands on the rocketing broom somehow... then it turns into a really close race between her and Diana..
Atsuko starts losing her grip on her broom.. or no she's clinging to the chain part, but the chain is losing it's grip on the broom... The broom breaks free of its seal and turns into a bird shape.
Episode 04 - Night Fall
Lotte wants to get out of detention because the town is having a convention for her favorite book series, Nightfall.. Atsuko helps her skip.. Lotte wins a trivia contest and gets a gift from Annabel... She gives Lotte her pen as a gift, and tells her
Nightfall's author isn't one person. I am the 12th Annabel. If you take this pen, you'll become the 13th. If you don't write, your beloved Nightfall will end.
Sucy suggests that since this fountain pen is so old, Lotte should be able to talk to the spirit in it... She has that ability to communicate with the spirits of tools.
She finds out that the current Annabel is depressed because of most of the internet not liking her... Atsuko suggests that Lotte should go to where Annabel is and tell her how much she means to her to get her confidence back up...
The feels in this episode... this is too good.
Episode 05 - Luna Nova and the White Dragon
This episode is both really interesting and hilarious.
Atsuko and her rival, Amanda, both get in trouble... and then while doing chores as punishment they see some dragons steal the philosopher's stone from the school... They skip their punishment to go and help get it back, against everyone's orders... The main dragon guy behind all this is a rich capitalist, and is forcing the school into never-ending debt... Atsuko argues with him, and then Diana comes up and brings the original agreement of the school's debt to the dragons, and shows that there was never any interest and the dragons have been scamming them the whole time...
Amanda and her cronies/friends joined Atsuko and the others in their delinquent group that spends a lot of time in detention together.
Episode 06 - The Fountain of Polaris
Kagari has to stay after class to learn how to turn a rat into a rabbit, and misses out on a big event where some popular guy is visiting the school... She only manages to make herself into part rabbit... She finds out from her cards, about a fountain somewhere north of the school that can grant her extra power...
Diana is asked to show the 2 visiting guys around the school... One of them is into Diana.. one of them keeps talking shit about Luna Nova and magic in general. That rude guy walks off, and notices a rabbit girl sneaking through the halls, and catches her and grabs her ears... Andrew Hanbridge introduces himself to Atsuko Kagari... Then he tells his anti-magic views to Kagari, and Kagari confidently disagrees with him...
She tries the transformation spell on a squirrel to prove to him, but she just manages to give him donkey ears/tail instead...
Kagari feels bad, as they both are hiding from Diana and the others now...
At this point, we have no choice but to find the Fountain of Polaris.
She frees the monster guarding the Polaris Arch, and they manage to get away from it and find the doorway...
That moment when Kagari realizes she found the place that is shown on her card... running up to it... the feels... This place looks so magical... Kagari and Chariot are both there together... the bubbles around them show Chariot's memories or something... Chariot holds up the Shiny Rod next to this ball of mana... and some blue and yellow lights light up on it that are similar to the lights over the arch.. Kagari, standing behind them, receives a bunch of power flowing into her from the stars...
The Fountain of Polaris bestows the great magic power of the stars unto the witch with the hidden radiance.Well almost... Ursula shows up and explains that she wasn't quite ready to receive this power yet... as Kagari is about to cry, Ursula hands her the Shiny Rod, and tells her to come back sometime in the future when she has the radiance needed to accept the stars' power...
Ursula undoes the magic and Andrew agrees not to tell anyone what happened... It seems Andrew's dad is the one teaching him not to believe in magic's usefulness.
Episode 06 screenshots
Episode 07 - Orange Submariner
Kagari struggling in her studies... Ursula gets reminded by Kagari of what her childhood dreams were like...
The higher up teachers tell Kagari that she'll be expelled if she doesn't pass the next exam.
lmao... One of Kagari's teachers is a fish, and she only just now found out that the fish is the teacher, she always just assumed it was a study period where everyone just stared at a goldfish.
The only thing keeping her motivated is that she wants to prove Diana's fortune telling wrong.
She almost kills professor Pisces, when she tries to bring her some fresh water to get on her good side... and then tries to rescue her and drops her down the drain... Lotte and Sucy and Kagari turn into fish and look around in the sewers to find the prof... but Kagari's spell doesn't work as well and turns her into a mermaid, still wearing the witch uniform and everything.
Meanwhile, Ursula makes a fake prof Pisces while the exam is going on... Kagari gets distracted by a fish that says her family is missing, and she goes out of her way to save the family (and also saved Pisces) from a poacher... Pisces gave Kagari a passing grade because of how she used what she learned in class and put it into practice by saving her... but Kagari still gets in trouble because she exposed herself as a mermaid in front of someone.
Ursula defends Kagari, saying it's more fair to compare Kagari now to how she was at first, rather than compare her to the other students... She even scolds the one bitch for not appreciating how Kagari always puts the needs of others before her grades and personal gain.
And also it turns out that the school IS benefiting from Kagari's actions, as the people realized that mermaid saved the last of an endangered species of fish.
Sucy drinks some mushroom elixer to try to become more powerful, but it turns her into sleeping beauty and makes the room fill up with mushrooms... Lotte uses a spell to put Kagari into Sucy's mind so she can try and wake Sucy up with an antidote... She meets Sucy's subconsious angel and demon forms, which are both basically the same...
She meets all of the little known parts of Sucy, who then get arrested and sentenced to death by the Sucy court... lmao
Kagari gets so into the idea of freeing all the "Sucy"s... she gets really into the dream and almost forgets that she's supposed to wake Sucy up... She keeps getting distracted
then she sees a movie showing Sucy's interpretation of her memories with Kagari... That was pretty sweet... It used a bunch of old western style animation.
Then all of the weird "Sucy"s that Kagari set free are all laughing at the fact that the school is being overtaken by mushrooms, and they combine to turn into a monstrous Sucy that is trying to devour everything... Then Kagari has an epic battle with a dragon before kissing Sucy to get her to wake up... That makes Sucy wake up and slap Kagari...
Then Kagari wakes up for real, and thinks the dream she just had was real and desperately tries to wake Sucy up.
...or was it a dream? Sucy brings up something that Kagari agreed to from inside her dream.
Episode 09 - Undead Travelogue
wtf this episode is so crazy.
At first, the headmaster is with a teacher when the students are asked to gather their precious amulets together... The headmaster teaches Kagari that her amulet must be something that reminds her of home... Kagari uses her Shiny Chariot card...
Next, Kagari is at the graveyard with Lotte and Sucy, and she accidentally knocks over a couple graves then accidentally brings a dead pirate back to life instead of repairing the graves. The pirate is going crazy trying to look for someone... Meanwhile they are chasing it around, making excuses for the public to prevent them from finding out about it and getting them in trouble.
The skeleton pirate eventually leads them to a magic item shop, and the pirate finds a picture of the person he's looking for, as well as an enrollment letter from Luna Nova... and there's a picture of a family... The skeleton is starting to get his memory back... going on about Miranda who was born to a witch and a normal human... He hates the guy who left his daughter alone after the mom died...
The headmaster asks Ursula where her true amulet is... She says who knows, it could be anywhere by now...
The pirate realizes he is the dad he detests, the one he's been looking for this whole time... Luna Nova's school bell reminded him... He made Miranda's amulet out of the bell's tongue. The thing that the headmaster showed to Kagari earlier... Kagari realizes this and uses magic to take him and the bell over to meet the headmaster. Such a heartwarming ending...
And Kagari gets in trouble for using one of the forbidden magics she was tought about earlier.
Episode 10 - Bee Affection
Kagari wants to go to the Hanbridge party that Diana and the other high class students are going to...
They go to the magic shop and get a pumpkin magic box and cast the cinderella spell with it to turn them all into cinderella.
Andrew tries to kick them out when he sees them... but then Sucy unleashes her "lovelove bee" she mistakenly got instead of another thing she ordered, and Andrew gets stung and falls in love with Kagari, and now sees her as a bishoujo...
The bee flies around and makes a bunch of other guys fall in love with Lotte... and later Diana also falls in love with Kagari.
Kagari sees Andrew getting scolded by his dad for inviting witches... he is trying to teach Andrew that witches are a dying breed and are unnecessary... and hears about how his dad forced him to give up his dream of playing piano. Kagari comes out and starts arguing with Andrew again, just like before all this stuff happened... Criticizing him for giving up on his dreams so easily...
I want to be a brilliant witch! I'll be the next Shiny Chariot! He just stares at her and says "You're really bewitching"
... she thinks it's still because of the bee's effects.
She chases the bee into the mansion and is about to get kicked out, but then Andrew comes in and covers for her so she can eliminate the bee.
Andrew starts acting like his usual self towards Kagari... but one of the guys continues hitting on Lotte after the effects wear off... That guy later tells Andrew that he's noticed him taking an interest in Kagari despite his father's wishes.
Romance plot elements in this show suddenly ramping up...
Episode 11 - Blue Moon
While Ursula is looking at the stars and recalling her memories of Shiny Chariot, Kagari decides she'll try asking Ursula if she knows why Shiny Chariot disappeared 10 years ago... Lotte suggested she might have fallen into a forbidden love...
Ursula gets embarrassed about Kagari seeing this side of her, and quickly goes to put on her glasses... Tells Kagari about the spell she learned from the teacher she looked up to... it means
That which is dreamed cannot be grasped. But work towards it, day after day, and you will find it in your hands.
In any case, take good care of the Shiny Rod.
Come to think of it, tonight is the blue moon.
The elder witches are having a meeting about the school's decline... talking about the great Nine Olde Witches who founded this school back when witches were popular. The headmaster gives Diana advice about being outside during the night of a blue moon.
The magic of the blue moon may reveal a secret to you.
In Kagari's dream, she sees memories of Shiny Chariot using the blue moon to her advantage... She then wakes up, and remembers a story from her childhood about the location of the blue moon abyss, the place where she can use the power of the blue moon.
The shiny rod activates a statue, and a Zelda dungeon entrance-like stairwell to the blue moon abyss opens up...
and this music... this is so zelda dungeon-y.
Meanwhile, Diana is also studying under the blue moon because of what the headmaster said to her... Something about the Nine Olde Witches sealing the Grand Triskelion within Arcturius...
Only the staff bearing the seven stars, Claiomh Solais, may break the seal.
To use it, one must speak the seven Words of Arcturus.
Ursula is looking at a portrait of the thing Diana is studying... saying that Akko revived the first Word the day she arrived at Luna Nova.
That time that Ursula came and helped Kagari activate the Shiny Rod... That spell was the first Word that Kagari was able to revive.
She uses it at the abyss... Ursula sees in her jar that Kagari has come to this place...
This is some trippy shit... she eventually finds the apparition of the abyss, and it offers her the chance to achieve the dream that she cannot reach, in exchange for giving up her past...
She activates the 2nd Word...
Phaidoari AfairrynghorShe restored that apparition to its original form... Ursula comes and greets her again for the first time in a while... She was testing the new owner of the Claiomh Solais, just as she tested Chariot... This professor's spirit gives Chariot the mission of helping Kagari to revive rest of the seven Words of Arcturus.
Wow the plot just keeps getting better.

Episode 12 - What You Will
Akko gets better at doing metamorphasis magic, and gets excited about the upcoming Samhain Festival, wants to win and become the Moonlit Witch just as Shiny Chariot supposedly did... but she isn't aware of how boring this festival is... Akko's team gets chosen to be sacrifices for the ghost. Sucy is actually excited to go inside a ghost...
Akko gets mad because everyone thinks Diana is gonna be the one to win the festival... Then she sneaks into the room where Diana is picking out a magic mirror to use... Akko gets transformed into Diana by the prankster mirror, then she plays a mean prank on Diana's friends... Then she finds Diana's room and sees her diary, and stops herself from reading it.
Then when she gets asked to do some difficult magic that Akko doesn't know how to do yet, the real Diana shows up and fixes everything, and scolds Akko for not focusing on preparing for her team's duty.
Actually I think Akko did read some of the diary... She seems to know about the fact that Diana is researching how to gain the power of the Grand Triskelion in order to revitalize magic to what it used to be...
Later that night, Ursula comes and talks to Akko, and gives her a confidence boost and hands her the shiny rod... then one of the shiny rod's lights glows and points to the Fountain of Polaris... She goes there to get advice... sees a scene from the point of view of some friend of Chariot... watching Chariot have fun practicing magic... Akko learns a new spell
Arae AryrhaShe realizes Chariot wasn't practicing in order to become the Moonlit Witch... she only cared about entertaining people. Akko tells her team she wants to put on a big metamorphasis show to make the ghost laugh when they do their sacrifice thing.. Lotte and Sucy think that's going too far, but Akko thinks having the ghost cry while eating them isn't very exciting.
Episode 13 - Samhain Magic Festival
Akko is so determined, that the other 2 eventually concede and agree to it. But she still has to practice her metamorphasis magic more to get better in time for the festival...
As the festival starts, Akko is still busy practicing and Diana thinks that Akko abandoned her duties... Then Diana goes out and puts on a crazy spectacular show with a bunch of water and a unicorn... Other than Diana's team, the spectators were underwhelmed and saying "It's no wonder magic is becoming unpopular"...
Akko takes the lead in her team's performance, using her novice level metamorphasis magic to put on a comedy show where she runs away from the crying ghost... everyone loves it... Lotte and Sucy are just flying overhead, providing support magic when needed... Meanwhile, Ursula has been spending this whole time trying to find the source of the ghost's curse. She finds out that Princess Vajarois swallowed the seed of sorrow in order to never forget her friends... this put an curse of sorrow on her spirit, making her eternally sad.
Ursula sends her crow to Akko to tell her to pull the seed out of Vajarois's body just as they're getting eaten.. Akko uses the 3rd word to pull it out and undo the curse. Everyone is amazed seeing this, including Diana.
That was a really good couple of episodes. I understand now why Akko was like "I've figured out what only I can do"... She can make people laugh with her novice metamorphasis magic.

Episode 14 - New Age Magic
This episode has a new OP/ED, and a new main character that seems to be plotting something...
A new teacher arrives to the school, Professor Croix... She uses a more modern form of magic and has hoverboards instead of brooms and all kinds of weird stuff... Meanwhile, the fairy workers have gone on strike and blocked off access to the sorcerer's stone, because the witches are using up too much of its power and not sharing enough of it with the fairies. Without the sorcerer stone's magic, the school has its power cut off and the students are unable to practice magic...
Akko gets fed up and goes to talk to the fairies, using Lotte as a translator... but it turns out she takes the fairies side and becomes their new union leader. She learned that the fairies require the sorcerer stone's magic to survive... She doesn't want to become the new Chariot at the expense of other people, so now she's trying to convince the school to let the fairies have a bigger share of the magic. One of the elders disapproves, saying it's impossible for the academy to use any less magic than it is using.
Then Croix jumps in, saying she knows a way to convert the sorcerer stone's excess wasted magic into a power source. Again that older witch disagrees because it messes with tradition...
Then there's some random mishap caused by an emotionless creature brought in by Croix.. the fairies revolt and force the witch academy to put Croix's system into place in order to meet their demands. Croix seems to have planned all this out... When Ursula comes back and is about to talk to Akko, she sees Akko talking to Croix instead and gets worried...
Episode 15 - Chariot of Fire
Diana is researching who Croix is... Ursula shows up and she talks about how she knew Croix as a student, but then backs off when Diana asks for more information... Diana then tries to look up info on Ursula...
Ursula fears that Croix must be after the revived Claiomh Solais (aka Akko's Shiny Rod).
Akko is totally a fan of Croix now, but other students don't like this idea of magic becoming more like science...
That older teacher who is against Croix's modern magic, says she used to be a fan of Croix... While Chariot was bad at her studies and wasted the school's magic doing performance art, Croix studied and worked hard to try to bring magic to the modern age... but now she's bringing too much science to the academy... Making everyone use phones and tablets and stuff...
Akko talks to Croix about Chariot, and Akko is surprised that Croix thinks highly of her. She then convinces Akko to bring the rod she found in Arcturus forest to the New Moon Tower, where Croix's lab is set up... I think that's also where the sorcerer's stone is.
When Ursula finds out where Akko is, she starts rushing for the tower... Croix starts scanning the rod and Akko, trying to figure out how she uses the rod's power... She sees that Chariot is approaching, and the tower's defense system kicks in. Ursula goes through this intense action sequence while climbing the tower... her hair turns red and she looks more like Chariot now... Ursula/Chariot confronts Croix and rescues Akko, but Croix has already gotten what he needed out of her.
After Akko wakes up, Ursula tells Akko the origin of the Shiny Rod... it's from 10'000 years ago, when Yggdrasil was still filling the earth with infinite magic... Yggdrasil's branches even held the stars and planets together... but the witches used up so much of its magic, that it eventually whithered. The original power of the Yggdrasil, the Grand Triskelion, was sealed within Arcturus by the Nine Olde Witches... only the revival of the seven words can break the seal.
Akko realizes that Chariot must've been trying to revive the seven words this whole time... She says she'll revive the rest of the seven words and meet Chariot.
Episode 16 - The Trial of Pohjola
The Shiny Rod is already hinting towards the 4th word's awakening... Ursula tells Akko she's missing something that is required to awaken this next word.
If you want to breathe life into the words, you need to grow by your own power.
Lotte takes Akko and Sucy over to visit her family... things start to get really serious when a rare disease breaks out from their neighbor's cooking, and Lotte's parents get covered in moss and become immobilized... Lotte and Akko start looking for the ingredients needed to make the antidote, and then Sucy and Lotte get infected as well... Now it's all up to Akko to make the antidote and save them before they crumble. Akko kept being impatient and not waiting for the ingredients to fall naturally, but now that she's on her own and has her friends' lives at stake, she's starting to learn to use patience.
Akko helps a Yeti get his confidence back in order to make the last ingredient... but the deer that brought her there left and she has to walk back, and she starts getting mossy herself... Then she gets saved by the deer's owner and is getting more and more mossy as she gets back and starts cooking the potion... Then as she's using the shiny rod to stir the pot, she sees the rod light up... She remembers the 4th word's meaning.
To see it through... Patience is important!
This was a fantastic episode...
Episode 17 - Amanda O'Neill and the Holy Grail
Ursula says the Shiny Rod is hinting towards the 5th word... Something to do with history and tradition. Akko tries to get professor Croix's help, but she doesn't know ancient magic too well, only modern magic.
Amanda helps Akko sneak into some boys school where the holy grail is said to be found... Akko thinks it has something to do with the next word. Amanda is doing it because she's rebelling against the school and wants to drop out... She dressed as a boy to infiltrate the school, and Akko changed to a mouse and travels in her pocket, and scares some guy... He thinks it's a witch's familiar...
We had them all eliminated in order to prevent the deception and corruption of witches in our holy place of learning! Then Andrew comes in, Akko tries to hide hear face... Andrew already what Mouse Akko looks like. Andrew can't understand why Akko wants to find these "word" spells, when nobody is making her do so...
Akko finds the holy grail easily, after seeing some magic things flying into it. Meanwhile Amanda catches Louis cheating at poker, and gets mad and outs herself as a witch and gets captured. Akko gets captured too after stupidly jumping at them in mouse form... Andrew comes in and tries to stop them from executing the witches, even though it's in their school's tradition... Instead, Louis agrees to duel on a bridge with Amanda, another part of their tradition... Akko thinks this might be the key to reviving another word.
Amanda wins the duel, and Louis goes and breaks the grail... its contents fly out and go into a knight armor and possesses it. Then the armor possesses Louis... Amanda is helpless against him now, since she doesn't have access to magic. Only Akko has the thing that lets them connect to the ley line from here. Akko gets Andrew to untie her and throw the magic machine to Amanda so she can defeat the demon knight. The school decides to let the witches go...
Akko realized this grail never did have anything to do with the word, just that it had some kind of demon inside it... Turns out this was Croix's doing all along...
This was an okay episode, even though not much happened. I think I like the episodes where a word gets unlocked a lot more than the other episodes, they just hit that feel mark really well.
Episode 18 - Sky War Stanship
This episode has Akko hanging out with Constanze, the short, mute girl. I guess she's kind of another technological witch like Croix.. Akko accidentally breaks one of her robots, and then she starts trying to make it up to her but just constantly bothers her instead... This feels like a Dexter's Lab episode...
Constanze is working on something for this ghost hunt event she's participating in called "Wild Hunt"... When Constanze in unable to borrow a thing she needs from the cooking fairies, due to her being mute, Akko gets it for her easily. Then Akko finds out what she's trying to do, and sees that one of her magic cards points to where another thing is that Constanze needs. Akko goes there and steals the item from an old man, and transforms into a penguin to slide down away from him...
lol.. I wonder when Akko is finally gonna learn how to fly a broom. I mean technically she probably just needs to realize she can fly by turning into a bird or something, and then use that same sort of thinking to power her broom flight, right? Doesn't seem like it should be that hard, but she's just that terrible at magic.
Meanwhile, Croix is studying something regarding this Wild Ghost Hunt thing...
A bunch of people are outside watching for the ghosts that were rumored to appear... Akko is riding with Constanze on their flying boat and catching all the ghosts. Then Croix comes and sends out her demon cube things to possess all the ghosts, and the ghosts turn into demon crows and start attacking everyone. Then when the witches start fighting them, the crows combine and turn into a giant crow monster. Then Akko and Constanze use metamorphasis on their ship and the episode turns into a blatant Gurren Lagann knockoff.
Burning souls turned into magic power! The seven shining stars of justice! A believing heart is our magic! Mahou Senshi Grand Charion! On stage! They can't actually fight against the monster though because they used up all their magic just transforming into this thing. Ursula is there flying around, she uses a megaphone and asks all the other ghost hunters to lend their power. Then they do an epic drill attack to defeat it.
Miracle Magical Shining Tornado Punch!
Ursula confronts Croix...
I see what you did. An experiment... you caused a panic among the people to gauge their rise in emotional energy... fuel spirit.
lol... Just when I was wondering about that.. Constanze gave Akko a broom that she's able to fly on. It's really slow and useless though.
Episode 19 - Cavendish
Diana remembers as a kid, learning from her mom about their family's ancestor, Beatrix, one of the Nine Olde Witches...
Sybilladura Lelladybura - When traditional and modern powers mingle, the gate to an unseen world will open.
Now, she's decided she needs to drop out of Luna Nova in order to go and become the new leader of the Cavendish family. Akko finds out she's leaving and tries to go stop her... Says she's started to love Luna Nova and all the people she met here just as much as she loves Chariot, and she doesn't want her rival to leave.
I have never once viewed you as my rival. She tells Akko that it's up to her to revive the Grand Triskelion, and then leaves.
Here you get to see Diana's situation at home... She only came to Luna Nova for a short break from her duties, and had to be called back before she could graduate because this place now this place needs her more than ever. Diana's aunt seems like a bitch.
Akko gets Diana's address from Ursula, and goes there to try and convince her to come back. She hitchhikes there and gets picked up by Andrew, who was invited to Diana's place for dinner... Diana prevents Akko from being kicked out immediately, and lets her stay over and use her old dress that her mom made for her when she was 11... lol Akko is ashamed to admit it fits her perfectly.
Wow, I wasn't expecting this... Diana has this little chest that she doesn't want Akko touching. It actually has a Chariot card in it... She seems to have a lot more in common with Akko than I thought.
During dinner, it quickly becomes obvious what's going on... Diana's aunts are selling off all of their family's heirlooms. That's why Diana was needed back home, and why their mansion has started to decay and become less well kept... They've been selling off all the magic out of this place.
Episode 20 - Sense and Sensibility
Akko and Andrew are both trying to persuade Diana to stay at Luna Nova, but she still refuses... As she starts going through the path to the ritual, Diana's aunt comes and attacks her with snakes... Akko and Andrew overheard Diana's cousins and aunt talking about how they attacked Diana...
The older woman hears about this from Akko, but isn't sure what to do because of the how it's said that a calamity will occur if someone disturbs the ritual... Well, it's already too late for that, Diana's aunt already did disturb it.
Akko fights the snakes by changing into different animals... When she gets bitten by the snakes she's like "This poison is nothing compared to Sucy's..."
Diana gets freed, but then sees that Akko has passed out from the poison... Diana gives up on the ritual in order to save Akko. Then when Diana tells Akko her sad story about how she's the only person left who can keep the Cavendish family legacy alive...
I had no idea you had such a heartfelt dream. There's no way you can give up on a dream that's so important to you!She even says Diana can both become the head and still attend school... Akko believes Diana can somehow work this out and achieve both her dreams... become the family head and still attend Luna Nova.
If anyone can do it, it's you! Believe in yourself, and your heart!
Akko is so special... Suddenly, her staff is glowing.
When traditional and modern powers mingle, the gate to an unseen world will open. It's a saying that has been passed down throughout the generations.
Akko summons Shiny Chariot's broom, and Diana and Akko use it to zoom straight to the shrine before it's too late... Diana's relatives are there trying to stop her with snake magic, and Diana dodges it easily... Then suddenly her relatives are being eaten alive by plants... The calamity that befalls those who disturb the ritual... lmao owned
Diana saves them instead of completing the ritual... the time is up... She sees Beatrix's ghost... I'm not sure, maybe she did actually complete it and just doesn't know that right now... Suddenly her family problems are solved. Her servants say they can protect the house while she goes and follows her true dream and go back to Luna Nova...
Episode 21 - Wagandea
The 6th word, Lyonne, is one of the most precious words there is... Akko hears this and wonders if Ursula managed to figure out that that word is... She can tell that she's getting really close to Chariot now...
Croix tells Akko about a legendary tree where Chariot discovered the 6th word, and Akko wants to go there but Ursula says its too dangerous while that tree is releasing its pollen... Diana agrees that it's too dangerous... Witches hit by Wagandea's pollen lose their ability to use magic.
Croix brought Akko to the tree anyway, saying it's still not in bloom yet... She says Akko needs to climb the tree without using magic to unlock the word, and then tells Akko to be suspicious of Ursula, as she didn't want Akko to come here for some reason...
Ursula finds out about this from her familiar, and goes to check it out, and meets Croix... more backstory... this tree is where Chariot and Croix prayed for the power to make their dreams come true... Croix wants to be the world's strongest witch, while Chariot wants to make people happy... it was Chariot that got chosen by the Triskelion. I guess Croix hated Chariot ever since then.
Ursula says Croix is scared of Akko reviving the Grand Triskelion.
Akko doesn't have a clue about the Grand Triskelion. The staff erred in choosing its owner, just as it did before.Akko refuses to listen to Ursula, and continues climbing, and Croix fights her to stop her from rescuing Akko... but then as Ursula gets hit and falls, Croix saves her... Ursula remembers the scene when this happened before...
It's already too late to save her.Ursula goes anyway... Akko sees the pollen coming down from above, realizes it's all over, and falls... Ursula catches her and they just barely manage to escape before it hits them... I think it might've hit Ursula though...
Aww... this scene is really sweet... they're both apologizing to each other... and their bond together unlocks the 6th word, Lyonne...
Ursula also adds:
Not a single person has ever seen the top of Wagandea. Wagandea has no end.
Croix is so obsessed with the Grand Triskelion, she's doing anything she can to destroy it...
Andrew's dad is dealing with some protest regarding an argument over a soccer goal or something... This was mentioned in the previous ep too... Andrew is still mostly just thinking about returning Akko's hat to her, which refers to something that happened a few episodes ago.
Ursula tells Akko the 7th, final word... Phasansheer Shyarylla
Not even I know its meaning.
The seventh star will shine in response to feelings in your heart.Ursula is about to tell her something else... but then they get interrupted by Diana telling Akko that Andrew wants to meet her...
lol I think I see where this is going, with the 7th word that Ursula couldn't learn the meaning of... I bet it's gonna be romance-related.
Diana asks Ursula if she knows anything about the huge amount of magical energy that has appeared since Croix's system was installed... Suddenly Ursula sees something and needs to leave...
Oh wow, I guess she was affected by the pollen...
Akko is getting along a lot better with Andrew now... Andrew doesn't disagree with her about her ideals, and Akko says he's a little more accepting of magic now than before... and Andrew says she should stop relying on Chariot so much.
Then, Akko sees one of Croix's floating cubes that was causing trouble before, and chases it down, and then finds Croix, and learns about her plans to convert emotional energy into magic. Croix starts to tell Akko about how Chariot failed... and then Ursula/Chariot shows up... backstory exposition time.
Magic to convert the power of dreaming into magical energy... Chariot herself used this before...
Oh man... the reason Akko can't fly... Chariot stole that magic from her when she watched her show. Akko is pissed.
Also yeah, I guess Diana was wrong about Ursula getting affected by the pollen... She left that broom because she went to use Chariot's broom instead...
Episode 23 - Yesterday
Lotte and Sucy tell Diana that Akko has gone missing. Diana goes to tell Ursula...
Chariot's full backstory is revealed... Just like Akko, she wanted to make people happy with her magic, but she was bad at it... Then she was chosen to revive the Grand Triskelion, and kept using her teacher's phrase, "A believing heart is your magic", as inspiration to find 6 of the 7 words...
Then she accepted an offer to work as a performance artist, hoping that would lead her to the 7th word, but it didn't go anywhere, and her popularity started dropping... then Croix came and helped her out, by getting her to use Dream Fuel Spirit to charge up her powers and put on better performances... It was only after she started doing this that Croix revealed how Dream Fuel Spirit actually works.
After that she refused to use it anymore, and people started losing interest in her shows... so then she did something crazy, and used a powerful attack to shoot the moon and made a huge cross-shaped crater on it. I guess after that, she was so ashamed she changed her name and appearance and became a teacher.
I see... so it was never really Chariot's fault at all. This should lead to an easy resolution then... Still leaves 2 episodes to resolve the Croix issue and learn the 7th word.
Diana goes to ask Ursula about Akko, and also tells her she's figured out that she is Chariot. Ursula tells her everything, but she doesn't want to go and find Akko... Diana's still so calm and collected after finding out about what Chariot did, and she says she's more disappointed in her for not going after Akko than anything else.
Diana finds Akko outside in the cold, and brings her to a coffee shop... She shows Akko her rare premium Chariot card that she was secretive about up until now... Diana wasn't able to go Chariot's shows, until her mother helped her sneak out to go see the same show that Akko saw. Akko realizes that's what Andrew was referring to when he said Diana lost her magic and had to work hard to get it back... Diana tells her that it was thanks to Chariot's show that she never gave up and was able to become a great witch even despite the setback.
Unfortunately, the more I learned of magic and the more aware I became of the expectations placed on me, the further my heart grew away from Chariot. But despite that, she still went to Luna Nova because of Chariot... and she became jealous of Akko after seeing how her magic had that certain charm that she lacked...
Diana gives Akko her rare card, and then Lotte and the others come, and Akko regains her conviction and says she'll never give up at becoming a great witch.
The episode ends just as Chariot is confronting Croix, and trying to put a stop to the final stage of her plan...
Wow, for an episode where not much happened besides talking, this was really really good.
Episode 24 - The Road to Arcturus
Chariot has to keep her emotions under control so that Croix can't use them to steal her magic... She can't fly anymore because of the pollen, but she still can do crazy acrobatics and also she has a light saber.
The energy from all the riots has brought the Noir Rod to full power, and the final stage of Croix's plan is executed... She steals all the energy from the philosopher's stone, and becomes god of the witches... no witch can use magic anymore without one of her devices...
Akko and the notice something crazy going on in the forest, and go to check it out... but then they fall into Arcturus Forest. Croix takes the giant Noir Rod and teleports to that Forest, which contains her final target, the Grand Triskelion... but not before Chariot jumps towards her and teleports along with her. Chariot is unable to stop Croix from getting to it... but then... her plan fails. The Noir Rod doesn't give her power over the Grand Triskelion... she breaks down, almost crying...
Why do you always look right past me? Why won't you guide me?
Then Croix starts to lose control of the Noir Rod due to too much fuel building up in it... She sends some remote bombs to destroy it... but then more cubes come and turn the Noir Rod into a giant monster... Chariot uses her amazing acrobatic+combat skills to fight it off for a while, until Akko and Diana arrive and blast it with the Claihm Solais... Oh yeah... that's a plot element from the OVA, the Shiny Rod can store a ton of magical energy, so they can still draw mana from it...
Akko calls out to Chariot... reminds her of the first word, the word Chariot taught Akko earlier in this same location...
Noctu... Orfei! Aude! Fraetor!
They both called out the spell in sync... defeated the Noir monster in 1 hit... Wow this rod is broken tier...
The seventh word... once that is revived, Akko will be at the same power level she was at the end of OVA 1... well except she still can't fly... but who knows there's still 1 episode left for her to do that.
Change the world. Connect with other people, and your dreams will grow.
...The stick that Chariot threw at Croix I think? That stick is glowing... the world reconstruction magic... Akko uses the 7th word with both Chariot's rod and this stick... and the Arcturus Forest regains its magic...
It seems like everything is fine... but a scene shows a rocket with Noir Fuel tech flying out in space...
Episode 25 - Tree of Leaves
Oh man... the Noir Fuel is still out there... of course it can't end perfectly, otherwise that might mean the series would end forever after one season...
Now it's taking over some military's missile systems...
The negative emotions exceeded my expectations. Hatred breeds more hatred, which it feeds on to get bigger.bitch you dun fucked up
It's just like what happened to the moon.Yeah which was your fault too... lmao she's a colossal fuckup compared to what Chariot has done.
While everyone else thinks they're doomed, Akko says the 9 witches gathered here are enough to stop the missile if they combine their forces... Diana is the first to chime in and agree...
Chariot and Croix use a spell to give the 7 younger witches a powerup...
Oh yeah, the 2nd OVA had that whole thing about combining your hearts as one to use a stronger type of magic... This final episode is taking a bit from that.
Each witch sits on a different branch of the Claihm Solais, where the use one of the lit up lights on it to draw power from... and they all call out the flight spell...
This episode's story would also make a really badass final level of a LWA game
Croix: "We're failures as teachers. They'll never make it."
Chariot: "Akko might be able to make something happen."
Each of the 7 witches, one by one, uses up all the energy in their part of the rod to give them a speedboost, with just enough left to fly off on their broom... Somehow, the video feed of the rocket that's being broadcast everywhere, turns into a video feed of the witches flying off to save it... Andrew's dad is arguing with the government about what to do... and Andrew chimes in to argue that people need to know about it... but the counter argument "Do you want to give them pretext for a counter-strike?" shuts him up.
Then the government and the rest of Andrew's family all see the witch feed...
Yeah I see what's going on... This is totally a Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon ending where the whole world gives their magic to the heroine to save the day... and I bet Croix will be the last one to lend Akko and Diana her strength...
Croix sees this unknown magic source that's like fuel spirit, except it's not...
People's thoughts are being relayed as magic without utilizing any sort of system.
Another thing brought over from the OVA... Ursula/Chariot is still really good at using a megaphone to direct the crows and get them to believe in magic...
omg this dialog is too good...
Everyone, please listen! These two witches are attempting to stop a dangerous monster. The monster is extremely powerful, but they are fearlessly facing it head on... Please let them hear your support! Please believe in them! That will become their power! All of our believing hearts are truly... our magic!
Oh so actually it's Andrew's dad and his coworkers who are the last ones to lend their strength. that makes sense too.
One of the government people, a general or something, agrees with Andrew first...
Prepare to provide them with backup in the event of their failure.
Meanwhile Diana and Akko have caught up to the missile... but they still have to take care of it somehow... Akko is like "if only we could change it into something harmless." and Diana is like "we can do that", pushes Akko to the front. Akko stands up and takes the front of the Claihm Solais and starts using her transformation spell on parts of the rocket...
Akko runs onto the missile, using her usual animal forms to run away and avoid getting hit... but then Diana gets hit and falls off the broom... Akko saves her, riding the legendary super broom that she one a relay race with before...
The entire planet synchronized its spirit to recreate Yggdrasil...
Akko and Diana:
Noctu Orfei! Aude! Fraetor!
A heart that believes in magic. I never expected that to be the origin of magic.
Akko returns the Shiny Rod to the stars.
Then during the credits, she finally overcomes the Dream Fuel Spirit curse and learns how to fly. </spoiler>
Great ending, syncs up perfectly with the end of OVA 1.
